POSTER RAFFLE: We’ll be raffling off an original ANIMAL HOUSE poster (illustrated by Rick) and signed by the artist, plus 3 Maira Kalman Film Forum t-shirts as second prizes.

Rick Meyerowitz was a prolific contributor of both artwork and written pieces to the National Lampoon, for which he wrote and illustrated articles on an astonishing variety of topics and themes. He painted the posters for “Animal House,” and created the Lampoon’s trademark visual, the “Mona Gorilla,” which has been called “one of the enduring icons of American humor."

Shortly after the attacks of 9/11, Rick and Maira Kalman created a map of New York City they called, “New Yorkistan.” It became the best selling New Yorker cover of this century. The week it was published—December 10, 2001—The New York Times wrote: “When their cover came out, a dark cloud seemed to lift.”
