Allen Lewis Rickman and Yelena Shmulenson have been called “The Yiddish Lunt and Fontanne” for their extensive work in NY Yiddish theater, and their traveling shows The Essence: A Yiddish Theater Dim Sum and Tevye Served Raw (Garnished With Jews). Allen has also been seen on and off Broadway, in regional theaters from Vermont to California, in YOU DON’T KNOW JACK with Al Pacino, FADING GIGOLO with John Turturro, and in his recurring role on Boardwalk Empire. Yelena helped start a prison riot on Orange Is the New Black, but she was better behaved on Blue Bloods, Madame Secretary, Chicago Med, and The Knick, and in films like THE GOOD SHEPHERD. They are probably best known for their work in the Coen brothers’ Oscar-nominated A SERIOUS MAN, where Yelena killed Fyvush Finkel. (Or did she?)
Steve Sterner has written music for and accompanied over 400 silent films. In addition to his 40+ year association with Film Forum in New York he has performed at MoMA, the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center, the BAM Rose cinema, the TCM Movie Festival in Hollywood, the Castro Theater in San Francisco, and the legendary Thalia Theater in New York. As an actor, Steve has appeared on and off-Broadway and his voice has been heard as the singing fire hydrant on ABC-TV. As a cruciverbalist, his crosswords and acrostic puzzles have appeared in The New York Times and various national publications.
