Jean Vallier is the author of a two-volume biography of Marguerite Duras, C’etait Marguerite Duras (published in Paris in 2014 as a single volume). He is a former Director of the Alliance Française in NYC and he founded and programmed the “Cine-Club” film series (1965-1995). He was film critic for the weekly France-Amerique, 1976-2007. Vallier met Duras at the 1969 New York Film Festival and had a professional and personal relationship with her until her death in 1996.
