MY COUSIN VINNY interview with Director Jonathan Lynn

7:00

Tuesday, December 11

Following the 7:00 screening of My Cousin Vinny, director Jonathan Lynn (Clue, Nuns on the Run) will be interviewed by Film Forum Repertory director Bruce Goldstein, with audience Q&A.

“As a Jewish kid from Bath, England, Jonathan may have seemed an odd choice to direct a movie about Italian-Americans and Deep Southerners, but he came to the project with sterling comedy credentials,” says Goldstein.  Prior to Vinny, Lynn had already made the hit comedies Clue (his directorial debut) and Nuns on the Run (both of which he also wrote).  His first major comedy break was as part of his university’s revue Cambridge Circus (the cast also included future Monty Pythonites John Cleese and Graham Chapman), which would eventually land Lynn, age 21, on Broadway. Two years later, he’d make his West End debut as Motel the Tailor in the original London production of Fiddler on the Roof. Lynn is also well-known as the writer of hit “Britcoms” including Twice a Fortnight, On the Buses, My Brother’s Keeper, and many others, but he’s best known as writer and co-creator (with Anthony Jay) of the award-winning BBC comedy series Yes Minister and Yes, Prime Minister.
