Premiere of new 3-D restoration

On Friday, August 31, film preservationist Bob Furmanek will introduce the 5:35 and 9:00 shows of REVENGE OF THE CREATURE

(1955, Jack Arnold) When the Gill Man escapes from his tank at the aquarium, it’s up to scientist John Agar to track him down. With debuting Clint Eastwood as a goofy lab assistant. DCP. Approx. 82 min.

Bob Furmanek, founder of the 3-D Film Archive, who worked on the brand new 3-D restoration of  Revenge of the Creature, will discuss the film’s production history and technical challenges of the restoration, prior to the 5:35 and 9:00 screenings. Rarely seen in 3-D since it’s 1955 release, this is the 3-D restoration premiere.

Bob Furmanek began his work to save our stereoscopic film heritage in 1980. As founder of the 3-D Film Archive, his organization has located and preserved dozens of vintage 3-D shorts and features. To date, they have released twelve restored titles on 3-D Blu-ray, including the critically-acclaimed 3-D RARITIES in 2015. Their most recent restoration is William Cameron Menzies’ THE MAZE; a collaborative preservation project with Martin Scorsese, The Film Foundation and Paramount Archive.
