The new NYRB Classics edition of Roger Shattuck’s The Forbidden Experiment: The Story of the Wild Boy of Aveyron, with foreword by Jed Perl, will be available for purchase at our concession.
Jed Perl’s many books include New Art City: Manhattan at Mid-Century; Antoine’s Alphabet: Watteau and His World; Magicians and Charlatans: Essays on Art and Culture; a two volume biography of the sculptor Alexander Calder; and, most recently, Authority and Freedom: A Defense of the Arts. He is a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books and was the art critic for The New Republic for twenty years and a contributing editor at Vogue for a decade. He lives in New York City.
