On Thursday, April 19 at 7:30pm, Film Forum presents a special screening of a new digital restoration of Sandra Hochman’s YEAR OF THE WOMAN. Hochman will appear for an interview with writer Vivian Gornick and an audience Q&A following the film.
Sandra Hochman is a poet, novelist, and filmmaker. Hochman is the author of ten novels and memoirs, eight volumes of poetry, and three nonfiction books, with bylines in The New York Times, Harpers Bazaar, New York Magazine, People, and more. She was the winner of the 1963 Yale Series of Younger Poets Competition, and was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in poetry – once in 1960 for Voyage Home, then later in 1963 for Manhattan Pastures. She has taught at Fordham University and City College, and founded You’re an Artist Too, an after-school program at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Vivian Gornick is a writer, a New Yorker, and a feminist. She has written more than ten books of nonfiction (memoirs, essays, criticism), counts herself a founding mother of Second Wave feminism, and could quite happily never leave the city again.
