Starring Ryan O’Neal and Oscar-winner Tatum O’Neal
(1973) When con artist Ryan O’Neal meets Tatum O’Neal (his real-life daughter and the youngest-ever Best Supporting Actress winner at 10 years old for her role) at her mother’s funeral, he agrees to drive the orphan to her aunt’s home in Missouri. While Ryan O’Neal begins the trip by scamming the mother’s killer out of two-hundred dollars, the two eventually become partners in crime – and a kind of family. DCP. Approx. 102 min.
“Funny, but also very poignant and finally deeply touching.”
– Roger Ebert
“A TERRIFIC MOVIE. The entire film takes on a poetic tone that transcends mere nostalgia. Wonderfully acted by both O’Neals, whose comic chemistry is perfect. Kids should especially enjoy [Tatum’s] ability to act dumb, smart, or whiny as the con game occasion demands.”
– Leonard Maltin, Family Film Guide
