“This film is divided into two sections. In the first, Stan and Ollie take a job as maid and butler—with Stan as Agnes the maid. When he’s told to serve the salad ‘undressed’ he does exactly that. But it’s the rest of the film that sets A CHUMP AT OXFORD apart from all other Laurel and Hardy comedies. The boys help catch a bank robber, and as a reward are sent to Oxford University in England to catch up on their education. At first, they fall victim to student pranksters, but then a chance bump on the head transforms Stan into a completely different personality: Lord Paddington, hailed as the greatest scholar and athlete in the history of the school! What’s more, he has no memory of Ollie, whom he insists on referring to as ‘Fatty, old thing.’” – Leonard Maltin
