Glenn Tryon and Barbara Kent, two singleroomed Gotham dwellers, meet and lose each other at a Coney Island excursion, but then discover... Fejos’ tour de force was “part of a movement away from nightclubs, newspaper offices, and marble halls towards the ordinary Joes in the audience” (David Shipman). Silent, with talking sequences and synchronized musical score, as Universal studio’s first film with audible dialogue.
