A rare screening of the 1956 live television special, starring Mary Martin (Peter) and Cyril Ritchard (Captain Hook) in their Tony-winning roles. Based on the 1954 Broadway musical adaptation of the story, this was the second of three versions broadcast by NBC beginning in 1955 (the third was in 1960) – all filmed at the old NBC studios on Avenue M in Brooklyn (formerly the Vitaphone studios) – and the only one directed by Robbins, choreographer and director of the Broadway show.
Dancer/comedienne Sondra Lee, a stand-out in all three versions as “Tiger Lily,” will appear in person at the screening.
