“You are a crook. I want you as a crook. I love you as a crook. I worship you as a crook.” Partners in crime and romance, Herbert Marshall (Gaston) and Miriam Hopkins (Lily) hatch a plan to rob perfume executive Kay Francis (Mariette), sending Gaston in as personal secretary to their employer. The plan is afoot and the joint is cased... until Gaston falls in love with Mariette and is forced to choose in a film that pairs grace and elegance with swindling and social vulgarities.
