Artist Charles Mingus III, son of the great Jazz bassist Charles Mingus, Jr., will introduce a rare screening of Thomas Reichman’s Mingus on Saturday, January 27 at 2:25.
Charles Mingus III is a California-born artist, whose work is a part of the collections of such distinguished people as Daniel Filipacchi, Molly Barnes, the Estates of Larry Rivers, Willem deKooning, Ivan Karp, Baroness de Koenigswarter Rothchild, Judith Malina, Barney Rosset and Allan Stone. His work is presently in exhibit by appointment at K. Burns Salon on the Upper West Side. Mingus' pieces have enjoyed numerous solo and group exhibitions across the U.S., Europe and Japan, and have shown at Allan Stone Gallery for over twenty years. Charles' talents include playwrighting, filmmaking, and animation. His plays and writings have been produced at The Public Theater, La MaMa, Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, Dixon Place, The Kraine and Theater for the New City. Mingus was honored with an Acker Award for Excellence in the Avant Garde in 2017.
