THE AGE OF INNOCENCE with screenwriter Jay Cocks

7:30

Thursday, March 1

On Thursday, March 1 at 7:00pm, Film Forum presents a special screening of a new 4K restoration of Martin Scorsese’s THE AGE OF INNOCENCE, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Winona Ryder, followed by an interview and Q&A with Oscar-nominated screenwriter Jay Cocks.

(1993) Michelle Pfeiffer’s Countess Olenska is back in 1870s NYC after a botched marriage to a Polish aristocrat, even as her young cousin Winona Ryder is looking forward to marriage to Daniel Day-Lewis. But then things, very subtly, get complicated. In The Age of Innocence, New York’s erstwhile chronicler of the city’s mean streets meticulously recreates every detail of upper-class 19th-century Manhattan life. New 4K restoration. 139 Min.

Jay Cocks began his writing career as a film critic for Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, and other publications. He went on to write the screenplays for Kathryn Bigelow’s Strange Days and Martin Scorsese’s celebrated The Age of Innocence and Gangs of New York, both of which received Best Screenplay Oscar nominations.
