On Monday, April 23 at 7:30pm, Film Forum presents a special screening of William Wellman’s WILD BOYS OF THE ROAD, perhaps Hollywood’s most powerful movie dealing with the Depression, introduced by Harvey G. Cohen, author of the new book Who’s in the Money? The Great Depression Musicals and Hollywood’s New Deal (Edinburgh University Press). Mr. Cohen’s book will be on sale at concession, with book signing to follow screening.
Harvey G. Cohen is a cultural historian at King’s College London. He mostly writes books and teaches about the history and business of the music and film industries. His book Duke Ellington’s America (2010) was named one of the best books of the year by the Washington Post, won a Choice Magazine Outstanding Academic Title Award and received significant coverage in the New Yorker, New York Times, Times Literary Supplement, New York Review of Books and many other media outlets. His new book, Who’s In The Money? The Great Depression Musicals and Hollywood’s New Deal was just released. Harvey G Cohen’s work has appeared in the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, The Independent (UK), Metro International (Sweden and Denmark), CSPAN-TV, and on several BBC and SkyNews radio and TV stations.
