THE LAST REPUBLICAN
DIRECTED BY STEVE PINK
While heroes are in short supply in American politics, Hollywood comedy director & screenwriter Steve Pink (HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, HIGH FIDELITY) finds an intriguing semblance in, and a humorous, spiky rapport with, young Republican Congressman (2011–23) Adam Kinzinger. One of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in 2021, key member of the January 6 Committee, and outspoken Harris/Walz supporter, Kinzinger represents Pink’s home state of Illinois, and — the clincher — his favorite movie is HOT TUB TIME MACHINE. But the two men share almost no political views. Is Kinzinger extraordinarily courageous, a future leader to watch? Or just another Reagan-loving Midwestern dude who simply chose common sense in the face of Trump-ism?

Reviews
“Kinzinger shares more about his personal beliefs, fears, and dreams than could ever fit in a brief congressional bio…introspective and thought-provoking.”
– Monica Castillo, RogerEbert.com
“EASILY ONE OF THE BEST DOCS OF THE YEAR…The breeziness of a comic book film and the impact of a deep journalistic dive… This is the story of one who stood up, with all his faults and flaws, one whose ideology you may not agree with, but whose capacity to show justifiable rage speaks for those too cowardly to act. It’s here that Pink’s film derives its most impressive impact.”
– Jason Gorber, Collider
“Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger proves a refreshing antidote to this current era of divisive and polarized politics in THE LAST REPUBLICAN…Pink pulls off a rare marvel with this smart and insightful snapshot of America in a polarising age… THE LAST REPUBLICAN uses the art of conversation to aspire to an America where political debate serves as a forum to move society forward. Imagine THE FOG OF WAR or THE UNKNOWN KNOWN as comedies and ones gets the sense of what an engaging work this film is.”
– Paul Mullen, POV

– Addie Morfoot, Variety
“A modern-day profile in courage.”
– Frank Scheck, The Hollywood Reporter
