Sunday, March 4
(1971, Reginald Mills) Members of the Royal Ballet company bring Squirrel Nutkin, Tom Thumb, Hunca Munca, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Jeremy Fisher, Pigling Bland, Peter Rabbit, and other Beatrix Potter creations to life in this film directed by the editor of Powell & Pressburger’s A Matter of Life and Death, Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes and The Tales of Hoffmann. Choreographed by the great Frederick Ashton (The Red Shoes).
Reviews
“The stories are told simply and directly and with a certain almost clumsy charm. Instead of going for perfection in the dancing, the Royal Ballet dancers have gone for characterizations instead. The various animals have their quirks and eccentricities… Your children will enjoy Peter Rabbit, and you will too.”
