(1940) Disney’s second animated feature (after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) and his most lavish, Pinocchio follows the adventures of animate puppet Pinocchio, in his quest to become a real boy. Featuring a host of memorable characters (Geppetto, Jiminy Cricket, the Blue Fairy, Figaro the Cat, Cleo the Goldfish, and Monstro the Whale, et al.), Pinocchio was the first animated feature to win competitive Academy Awards: Best Original Score and Best Original Song for “When You Wish Upon a Star.” DCP.
