IN PERSON! TAMPOPO star Nobuko Miyamoto Q&A with Bilge Ebiri

Nobuko Miyamoto, wife of the late director Juzo Itami and star of his TAMPOPO, will appear in person for a Q&A following the 7:35 show on Friday, October 21. She will be interviewed by Village Voice film critic Bilge Ebiri. 

Nobuko Miyamoto starred or appeared in nearly all of Juzo Itami’s films, and was married to the director from 1969 until his death. Best known for her collaborations with Itami in the ‘80s and ‘90s, Miyamoto made her debut in the 1966 film Honnou. She has been nominated eight times for Best Actress at the Japanese Academy Awards, winning in 1988 for her role in Itami’s A Taxing Woman.

Bilge Ebiri is the principal film critic at the Village Voice. Ebiri's work also appears in the publications of the Voice’s film partner, Voice Media Group: LA Weekly, Denver Westword, Phoenix New Times, Miami New Times, Broward-Palm Beach New Times, Houston Press and Dallas Observer. Ebiri is a former film critic for New York Magazine and Nerve.com, and directed the feature film New Guy, released in 2004.
