Prior to our special screening of The Diary of Anne Frank, star Millie Perkins, who made her film debut in the title role, will be interviewed onstage by film historian Foster Hirsch.

Born in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, Millie Perkins’ modeling career began after she was spotted by a photographer while working as a receptionist at a New York advertising agency. After becoming an international cover girl, Perkins was approached by George Stevens, who had seen her photographs, to play the role of Anne Frank. Her later work includes Wild in the Country with Elvis Presley, Ensign Pulver — with Robert Walker, Jr., Burl Ives, and a young Jack Nicholson — and the early Nicholson vehicles The Shooting and Ride in the Whirlwind. After several years away from Hollywood, Perkins returned to the movies in the 1980s, with roles in Table for Five, At Close Range, Wall Street, The Chamber, and The Lost City.
