Kim Phillips-Fein is the author of Invisible Hands: The Businessmen’s Crusade Against the New Deal. She teaches history at New York University’s Gallatin School and has written for The Nation, Dissent, The Atlantic and The New York Times. Her most recent book, Fear City, is a vivid account of the 1975 austerity crisis and the emergence of the austerity politics which transformed the city and continue to shape the world today.
