DON’T BLINK – ROBERT FRANK Introduced by photographer/filmmaker John Cohen

John Cohen, born in NYC in 1932… photographer, musician, film maker,  artist, professor emeritus. ...still alive.

After art school at Yale, he became a neighbor to Robert Frank from 1957 - 1962.   During that time, he photographed production of Robert’s film PULL MY DAISY.  His photography subjects also include Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan (1962) and the Tenth Street art scene, as well as subjects in Peru and Kentucky. After being convinced by Robert to not be a magazine photographer, Cohen became a musician and started The New Lost City Ramblers, for whom Robert photographed record covers. John made his first film, THE HIGH LONESOME SOUND, in 1962.  He made 16 more films, recorded twenty albums for the famed Folkways Records label (plus nine field recording projects), and started the Friends of Old Time Music concert series in 1961.  He has published five books of photographs with the esteemed German printing company Steidl.  He has lived in Putnam Valley, NY for 50 years.
