Alexandra Silver is the Community Outreach & Engagement Manager at Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC). She first became involved with the organization as a volunteer at the Manhattan Care Center, but it wasn’t long before she adopted her first ACC cat and soon after became a staff member, initially in the communications department. Among other efforts to connect with New Yorkers, Alex helps run the Community Kids Program, which encompasses a wide range of initiatives to engage animal lovers under 18. She lives with her two cats Lucas and Freddie Mercury and a rotating crew of foster animals.

Individuals from all over New York City come to Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) every day of the week for reasons as diverse as reclaiming lost pets, adopting new furry family members and getting resources to help them keep their pets in homes. ACC strives to find loving homes for homeless and abandoned cats, dogs, and rabbits, both by adopting animals directly to the public and by partnering with more than 300 dedicated animal placement organizations (New Hope partners). Their field services division responds to calls from the public to help keep NYC communities safe and rescue animals in need, and they have facilities in all five boroughs. Stop by ACC’s table outside the Film Forum for information on adopting, volunteering, fostering and other ways you can join in ACC’s mission to end animal homelessness in NYC.
