Director Bill Jersey (pictured, above right, with Ernie Chambers) will appear in person for an audience Q&A following the 6:20 screening of A TIME FOR BURNING on Tuesday, January 23.

(1967) “As far as we’re concerned, your Jesus is contaminated.” A young white Lutheran minister in Omaha tries reaching out to a Black congregation, but encounters opposition from his church elders and the acerbic opinions of then-barber Ernie Chambers (now the longest-serving state senator in Nebraska history). 35mm. Approx. 58 min.

Bill Jersey has been an award-winning filmmaker for over 60 years. He has received numerous Oscar nominations for his work, including A TIME FOR BURNING and SUPERCHIEF -THE  LIFE AND LEGACY OF EARL WARREN. He has also received three National Emmys, two Peabodys, and a Gold Medal from New York's National Arts Club. A TIME FOR BURNING was blown up to 35mm for national release by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and was added to the National Film Registry in 2005. Jersey is currently an award-winning Landscape Artist.
