The Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF) is a non-profit legal and educational organization. FTRF protects and defends the First Amendment to the Constitution and supports the right of libraries to collect—and individuals to access—information.

Brooklyn Public Library's Books Unbanned responds to an increasingly coordinated and effective effort to remove books tackling a wide range of topics from library shelves in schools and public libraries nationwide. Partnering libraries provide free digital library cards to teens across the country to enhance access to frequently banned materials and support the freedom to read.

Jennifer Finney Boylan is the author of 19 books. She is the president of PEN America, the former chair of the board of GLAAD, and a former contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. She is the inaugural Anna Quindlen writer in residence at Barnard College of Columbia University.

Nicole Davis is the Branch Manager of the Macon Library at Brooklyn Public Library. She spent some of her career within the social services arena, developing programs and meeting constituents’ needs. Currently, she assesses the delivery of library services to diverse populations in public library branches in Brooklyn, N.Y. Nicole is the recipient of the 2021 Whole Health Hero Award for her work in providing services to the community during COVID-19 and the 2022 Library Journal’s Movers and Shakers Award for her work as a community builder in the library field. She was also awarded the 2023 Woman of Distinctions award from the 56th District Assemblymember Stefani Zinerman. She was just awarded the 2025 Dr. Lucille C. Thomes award for Excellence in Librarianship. Nicole received her MLS degree from Long Island University and has been working in the library field for over 20 years.
