Two graduating high school students fall in love in 1939, on the eve of World War II, in a lyrical coming-of-age film set in the idyllic region of Vilnia. The boy’s strict, militaristic father and superstitious mother get in the way of their budding love, and the pair are blissfully ignorant of the turmoil in the real world that will soon engulf their way of life.
