ANDRZEJ WAJDA 100
Friday, October 2 – Thursday, October 22
4K RESTORATIONS newly created by Di Factory in Warsaw. Very special thanks to Di Factory’s Jędrzej “Jed” Sabliński.
Commemorating the centennial of the great Polish director Andrzej Wajda (1926-2016), Central and Eastern Europe’s most provocatively political post-war filmmaker. The three-week, 25-film retrospective includes U.S. premieres of new 4K restorations of ASHES AND DIAMONDS, KANAŁ, A GENERATION, MAN OF MARBLE, MAN OF IRON, KORCZAK, and many other masterworks.
“Andrzej Wajda was one of the greatest filmmakers we’ve ever had. His craftsmanship, his fearless commitment to the truth, his deep love for his homeland, his obsessive passion for cinema—you can feel it all in every frame and every cut of every picture he ever made. Wajda left behind one of the most formidable bodies of work in the history of the art form. He was a true master.”
