Temporary Closure FAQ

Information about our temporary closure

When will Film Forum re-open?
In compliance with Governor Cuomo’s order, and in the interest of the health and safety of our staff and patrons, we are closed until further notice. We will re-open as soon as the situation allows.

What will happen to the current programming?
We hope to present all scheduled premieres after we re-open. All repertory festivals and long-run revivals that have been (or will be) cancelled due to the crisis will be re-scheduled for a later date. All FILM FORUM JR. screenings are postponed until September.

Is any Film Forum programming available to watch during the temporary closure?
Yes! We have partnered with theatrical distributors to present a virtual cinema of recent Film Forum releases, including Ken Loach’s SORRY WE MISSED YOU, Chinese noir THE WILD GOOSE LAKE, Romanian crime caper THE WHISTLERS, 2020 Best International Film Oscar nominee CORPUS CHRISTI, and Luchino Visconti’s lush final film L’INNOCENTE. All rental fees support Film Forum.

How can I support Film Forum during the temporary closure?
There are several ways to donate while we are closed. We very much appreciate your support, especially at this time:

You can also support us by buying gift certificates and merchandise (orders will be filled after re-opening) and by becoming a member.

How can I get updates on Film Forum’s offerings and re-opening?
Sign up for our weekly eNewsletter and follow us on InstagramFacebookTwitter & YouTube.

How will my membership be affected by the temporary closure?
You will not lose any time on your membership. When we re-open, your membership expiration date will be extended to reflect the amount of time of our closure.

If you renew your membership while we are closed, it will be extended 1 year plus the amount of time of our closure. To renew your membership, please click here. If you have any questions, or need any assistance, please email us at membership@filmforum.org.

Thank you for your continued support.
