(1940, Edgar G. Ulmer) Ulmer’s fourth and final Yiddish film is a musical comedy about a “nice” young man with a weakness for ascots who’s close to his mother and who, for some strange reason, can’t seem to get married (eight broken engagements in a row)... With Leo (“the Yiddish Fred Astaire”) Fuchs and half the comic character actors on the Lower East Side. DCP restoration. Approx. 85 min.
