Intimate portrait of the Paneros, a notoriously troubled Spanish literary family, with deceased patriarch Leopoldo Panero, poet laureate of the fascist regime, unseen but looming large. Intended as a Spanish Grey Gardens, but viewed, following Franco’s death, as a post-fascist post-mortem. A phenomenon in its native country, but unreleased in the U.S. Introduced by Aaron Shulman, author of The Age of Disenchantments: The Epic Story of Spain’s Most Notorious Literary Family and the Long Shadow of the Spanish Civil War, available for sale at our concession.
