KING OF JAZZ

U.S., 1930
Directed by John Murray Anderson
Starring Paul Whiteman, John Boles, Bing Crosby
Art Direction by Herman Rosse
WINNER Academy Awards® – Best Art Direction, 1930
Approx. 98 min. DCP 4K Restoration.

Kaleidoscopic showcase for “King of Jazz” Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra. One of the most beautiful surviving examples of two-color technicolor, where Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” is glorified in shades of turquoise (blue was not one of the two colors). The pale-eyed Rhythm Boy is Bing Crosby in his film debut.
