It’s a rowdy world on the lower East Side (painstakingly built on a backlot in Hollywood) for Mary’s final child role (she was 33)—the 12-year-old kid of an Irish cop. But the comedy turns grim when her brother joins a gang strong-arming Jewish shopkeepers.
