Made in Yugoslavia during a rare period of exile by Wajda, SIBERIAN LADY MACBETH is a tale of adultery and murder based on a Russian novella loosely inspired by the Shakespeare tragedy. “She was part woman, part volcano... lying, stealing, killing, to keep the man she loved,” blared the tag line of an original movie poster; the film was first released in America as FURY IS A WOMAN.
