“Lina Basquette as Judy, leader of the Atheist Society, a subversive organization in her high school, is opposed by George Duryea as the captain of the religionists. As the atheists meet one night, the opposing group attacks with vegetables, and a fist fight ensues in which a fifteen-year-old girl is accidentally thrown from a third-floor landing and killed. As a result, the two leaders and ‘Bozo’ Johnson, played by Eddie Quillan, who is accused of aiding in the girl's death, are sent to the reformatory.” – The New York Times
Reviews
“A surprising piece of romantic evangelism is THE GODLESS GIRL. The story, which stretches from ludicrous slapstick through scenes in a burning reformatory, the intensity in feeling of which equals motion-picture depictions of the French Revolution, is punctured with vapid religious admonitions and strange heavenly warnings in the form of crosses burnt into the palms of the heroine.”
