THE MIRACLE OF MORGAN'S CREEK played at Film Forum on September 7, 1990 as part of “Written and Directed by Preston Sturges,” our Houston Street theater’s opening repertory festival.

U.S., 1944
Written and directed by Preston Sturges
Starring Eddie Bracken, Betty Hutton, Diana Lynn, William Demarest, Porter Hall
Approx. 99 min. DCP.

Cop's daughter Trudy Kockenlocker (Betty Hutton — who else?) comes back pregnant from a date with a soldier, but it's ok. She actually married... Ratsky-watsky?! Splenetic dad William Demarest drags perennially hapless Eddie Bracken to the rescue, in Sturges' small-town version of the Immaculate Conception.

Presented with support from the Robert Jolin Osborne Endowed Fund for American Classic Cinema of the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s

“Like taking a nun on a roller coaster ride… one of Hollywood’s most violently funny comedies.”
