Lee Grant in person

6:00

Due to legal reasons, we are unable to show Lee Grant’s Women on Trial.

In its place we’ll be showing Grant’s first documentary The Willmar 8 (1981), about the 1977 strike by female employees of the Citizens National Bank in Willmar, Minnesota over sex discrimination. Braving community opposition and the freezing Minnesota winter, eight women found themselves on the frontlines of the women’s rights movement, in what would become the longest bank strike in American history. The strike would later inspire Grant’s 1984 docudrama A Matter of SexApprox. 50 min. 16mm.

Following the film, Grant will be joined by writer Patricia Bosworth for a conversation and audience Q&A.
