JAGUAR introduced by Rouch scholar Jamie Berthe

Jamie Berthe will introduce a screening of Jean Rouch’s newly-restored 1968 film Jaguar on Monday, January 29 at 2:00.

Jamie Berthe is an associate professor at NYU’s Gallatin School. Her research and writing explore the legacy of the French filmmaker and anthropologist Jean Rouch, particularly in relationship to French colonial history and African cinema. Jamie has been a fellow at the NYU Humanities Initiative and has also received a George Lurcy Fellowship for study in France. She has taught courses on media, visual culture, and critical thinking at NYU.  Her research interests include visual culture, film, technology, and post/colonial history and theory.
