Wednesday, June 5

Naeem Mohaiemen will introduce a rare screening of Mrinal Sen’s INTERVIEW (1971).

Naeem Mohaiemen head shot. Naeem Mohaiemen combines films, installation, and essays to research left utopias, sometimes in the form of revolutionary insurrections that end in ruin. His films have explored a messianic attachment to violence (United Red Army, 2011; Afsan's Long Day, 2014), mis-recognition of allies (Last Man in Dhaka Central, 2015; Abu Ammar is Coming, 2016), and a fatal pivot toward petrodollar alliances (Two Meetings and a Funeral, 2017). He co-edited System Error: War is a Force That Gives Us Meaning (w/ Lorenzo Fusi, 2007) and Solidarity Must Be Defended (w/ Eszter Szakacs, 2019– forthcoming). He was a Guggenheim Fellow (2014), and a finalist for the Turner Prize (2018).
