Following the 7:00 screening of Nashville on Saturday, September 21, screenwriter Joan Tewkesbury will chat with Film Forum Repertory Director Bruce Goldstein, plus an audience Q&A.

Joan Tewkesbury began her career at age ten as a dancer in MGM’s The Unfinished Dance with Cyd Charisse. She was an Ostrich and Mary Martin’s flying understudy in Jerome Robbins’ Peter Pan and choreographed and danced in nightclubs in San Francisco and Reno, Nevada. Since, she has amassed credits as a writer, director, producer and choreographer in feature film, theatre and television. For Robert Altman she wrote Thieves Like Us. The following year, she scripted Altman’s classic Nashville. Tewkesbury directed her first feature film, Old Boyfriends which was presented at Directors Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
