Sam Di Iorio will introduce Jean Rouch’s newly-restored 1962 film Punishment on Sunday, February 4 at 4:10.
Sam Di Iorio is Associate Professor of French at Hunter College and the CUNY Graduate Center. He has written about Jean Rouch, Chris Marker and other filmmakers for Screen, Film Comment, and the Criterion Collection. Most recently, he co-edited Philip Watts’ book Roland Barthes’ Cinema with Dudley Andrew, Yves Citton and Vincent Debaene and contributed a chapter about the representation of everyday life to the forthcoming edition of The French Cinema Book.
