(1953, John Farrow) An unhorsed John Wayne and his dog show up at the remote ranch of husbandless Geraldine Page and her son–and then the Apaches arrive. Maybe Wayne’s greatest non-Ford role; with Oscar nomination to ultra-Method Page in her debut. DCP. Courtesy Batjac Productions; special thanks to Gretchen Wayne. Approx. 88 mins.
Gretchen Wayne is the daughter-in-law of John Wayne and was the wife of the late Michael Wayne, who handled his father’s business affairs and produced several of his movies.
Gretchen is currently president of Batjac Productions, founded by John Wayne in the early 1950s, and has been instrumental in restoring many of the company’s films, including the 3-D Hondo.
